End of holidays, back to school...

My first school holiday after a two-year plus hiatus from studying. The break between my ORD and the start of school in NUS couldnt exactly be considered school holiday. But it sure was a long break then, and my time was pretty much spent on many things. Previously, holidays in JC were also a stressful period because right after the school break, common tests usually follows. Only the March holidays and November/December holidays of J1 as well as the November/December holidays of J2 were stress-free. This time round, in NUS, no tests or exams followed after the holidays, and i'm so thankful for that. So how about the time spent? Let me say that this semester break was a jam-packed, fun-filled and eventful holiday for me.

Right from the moment my last paper ended on 2nd December 2008, fun began for me. Quite a huge number of the ESE undergraduates from my batch of intake met up and had an outing. This was made possible thanks to Chee Yong's effort in creating a Facebook Group. It was through the FB Group which we organised our first ever outing together. Went down to Selegie Road to have tau huay, you tiao and egg tarts. This was followed by a movie, Madagascar 2. The turnout was surprisingly good, both for the tau huay as well as the movie. Cant really remember the number but it was more than 10.

And then there was this painting job which i did for Melissa's aunt. It's quite hard to actually label this as a job because of the welfare bestowed upon us, the workers. Dinner on one of the nights was spent there with Melissa's aunt cooking for us to eat. On one of the afternoons, we played mahjong because it was raining. We helped ourselves to the snacks and drinks from the fridge. Oh my goodness, can you just visualise this? Am i even working? It's like, i cant even put a name to this thing which i was doing. Yes, i am doing some manual labour, which was painting, but at the same time, i was getting pampered by food, drinks and rest. Whatever the case, this "job" gave me some additional spending power over this semester break.

Towards the end of the year, there was the usual S10 gathering over at Amanda's place. This time round, it wasnt just a round-up of the usual people from the class. Apparently, there were people from other places who were there too. So it wasnt really that exclusive a class gathering after all. What's worse was that nobody else stayed over. Only me and Big Boss Sam. Oh well, it wasnt really that possible with quite a few girls who had to work the following morning, and Jiawei and Daryl just had to pang seh at the last minute. i just hope it will be better next year.
